My work and artistic endeavour is expressed on a wide variety of handmade paper.
Paper has amazing strength and, at the same time, a fragility that is surprisingly beautiful. It is a fantastic material to work with because it can be used in many extremely different ways; you can use it for packaging, printing, painting, to give information, and even for clothing. You can fold it, tear it, eat on it, and it makes funny sounds when you crumble it.
My source of inspiration comes from travelling to foreign, exotic cultures. Being in surroundings I have never experienced before makes me feel like I am in a dream.
The sudden fascination of an ancient wall, an old inscription, a flower or a piece of cloth can make a very strong impression. A detail taken out of a greater context is later transformed in my paintings.
